Elan Atias, Music Supervisor Julia Michels & SXSW

This week Tamara mans the ship in Hollywood while co-host Jonathan Mchugh parties at SXSW in Austin! Thankfully he Skypes in to talk about the hottest bands playing at the festival, including The Weekly Comet favorite Of Monsters and Men. KCRW DJ Jason Kramer adds his picks, such as Alabama Shakes. The show opens with Tamara’s recap of seeing Guns ‘N Roses play the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip – a truly epic show.

Taking stage for a live in studio performance is pop reggae singer & songwriter Elan Atias, who sings three songs from his new album, “We Are,” including the title track and “Step into the Sunshine.” He later sits on The Comet Couch and talks about joining The Wailers and filling Bob Marley’s shoes at age 19 and his musical roots. This week’s music supervisor guest is Julia Michels who takes us behind the music scenes of such films as “The Diary of  Wimpy Kid” franchise, “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked”, “Sex and the City 2”, and upcoming film “Pitch Perfect“.  Good stuff.
